A Dream Becomes a Reality

I’ve had a dream brewing in my heart for 6 years.  That dream is to offer a place for Romanians who need to draw aside for a few days rest or for spiritual refreshment. 

After years of dreaming of this retreat center, now, finally construction has begun!  Situated in an area with beautiful rolling hills, green pastures and forests, it has the feel of "getting away".  Just a short drive outside of Cluj, the place is easily accessible.  It will be a quiet place of refreshment... a place to find peace... a place to encounter God.  The possibilities are limitless:  personal & group spiritual retreats, camps, prayer weekends, seminars, inner healing weekends, bible school intensive courses, R & R getaways.  

"The Juniper Tree Retreat" is fittingly named after the experience of Elijah recorded in 1 Kings 19:4-8.  The passage records a time when Elijah, the great prophet of God was exhausted and discouraged.  He sat down under the shade of a juniper tree and told the Lord "I've had enough".  The journey had become too much for him.  There under the juniper tree, God touched Elijah and ministered to him in a way that Elijah was refreshed.  Elijah was then able to go back to work with new fervor and effectiveness.   As a missionary of 23 years, I’ve also experienced times when the journey became too much for me.  But like Elijah, I experienced God's refreshment at the "juniper tree".  Knowing personally and experientially what God can do with a few days set apart with Him, I am passionate about offering this type of opportunity to other weary men and women of God.
